Birmingham 1938 Unusual Solid Silver Double Section Sliding Action Stamp Case by Ahronsberg Brothers.

Description

Birmingham 1938 very unusual solid silver English hallmarked sliding action patent double section stamp case with striped engraving to the cover, a vacant shield shaped cartouche suitable for personalisation if desired, and adorned with a turquoise button with silver surround.

The cover slides open via pushing open with thumbs to reveal the original gilt lined interior with middle separation creating two sections for stamps, and bearing the word patent.

Made by Ahronsberg Brothers of Albion Street, Birmingham, well known stamp case makers. This firm later became Albury Brothers in the 1940's.

Size-2 1/8 inches by 1.5 inches.

Weight-25 grams.

This is a very unusual design for a stamp case or box, and is not often found. It is very desirable for the stamp case collector, or the collector of novelty silver.

With just the usual expected fine surface scratching, this is in very good condition overall.
