Lovely rich colours and in an unusual medium size. Most antique carpets come either smaller or bigger and it is hard to find these 'in between' sizes, especially with these great colours. In worn condition, showing wear but still strong and useable for the floor. Underlay recommended.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Heriz carpets originate from the Heris region in north-west Iran and are renowned for their durable wool construction, large geometric medallions, and robust, village-woven character.

These carpets are traditionally hand-knotted using wool pile on a cotton foundation, employing symmetrical Turkish knots which contribute to their exceptional durability and distinct texture.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-spun vegetable-dyed wool, distinctive geometric corner spandrels, a prominent central medallion, and natural irregularities characteristic of traditional village craftsmanship.

An antique Heriz carpet anchors contemporary living spaces by providing a rich textural contrast, balancing minimalist furniture, and introducing earthy red and blue tones to neutral colour schemes.

Preservation involves regular gentle vacuuming without a beater bar, professional washing by an expert in antique textiles, and avoiding direct, prolonged exposure to sunlight to protect natural dyes.
