Antique Victorian Sterling Silver & Glass Claret Jug - 1887

Description

An attractive antique Victorian sterling silver and glass claret jug which has a tall ovoid shaped body with pretty cut glass detailing, an ornate silver mount depicting flowers and leaves, a plain curved shaped handle which is comfortable to hold and resting on a flat star cut base. The hinged lid has similar flower and fruit decoration and the finial on top is particularly impressive. This silver and glass claret jug is both decorative and practical and would make a useful addition to a collection. There is a crest on the front of the silver mount. It remains in excellent condition and would hold 1 litre of wine.

Width: 9.2 cms (3.6")

It was hallmarked in London for 1887 by Edgar Finley & Hugh Taylor (Horace Woodward & Co.)
