Size: 7ft 3in x 3ft 10in (220 x 116cm).

Antique Central Asian Uzbek Karakalpak tribal rug with large Turkmen style guls.

Circa 1900.

The rug has two rows of six large octagonal guls, similar to those found on Turkmen rugs, the rug has a very 'earthy' colour palette. The rug is framed by a border with traditional design.

The Karakalpak are a small group of Turkic speaking tribes found in the region of western Uzbekistan.

The rug is in good condition with even wear with medium pile. There are a number of old repairs to the field.

The carpet is suitable for normal domestic use.
