Originating from the town of Usak in Western Anatolia, Oushak carpets are traditional Turkish floor coverings characterised by large-scale geometric motifs, distinct colour palettes, and soft wool construction dating back to the Ottoman era.

These carpets are hand-knotted using local wool pile tied onto a wool or cotton foundation using symmetric Ghiordes double knots, resulting in a flexible weave and durable texture.

Authentic pieces exhibit pliable foundations, natural vegetable dye colour variations known as abrashes, and characteristic open, large-scale geometric or floral motifs rather than tightly packed patterns.

A large Oushak carpet anchors neutral or traditional spaces by providing colour contrast, acting as a focal foundation beneath wooden furniture, sofa groups, or dining tables.

Vacuum regularly using suction only without a revolving beater bar, rotate the carpet periodically to equalize exposure to light and foot traffic, and use professional low-moisture cleaning when required.
