Here is a lovely old Afshar, showing its age somewhat but I think it retains it’s beauty. This format is not uncommon, the central column and medallion is drawn in a wonderful deep blue and sits on an abrashed madder field. This in turn seems to sit over a mid blue pool which appears at each corner. Three layers of depth depicted in great colours.
This rug is quite worn. There are several repairs one quite large to the main field, the selvedge needs overcasting in one place.
