The unusual palette on this rug makes it quite desirable for the current interiors market which leans towards understated and paler colours. The tones are quite subtle and the allover design consisting of boteh marching to and fro across the field is also preferred to the central medallion design. Note how well drawn the main border is, especially at the bottom end where it slips underneath the field and rather than framing it appears to push the centre forward. This piece has some charm and a very elegant look.
