Elm and Beech Early 19th Century Cutlers or Milking Stool, 3 Legs, 39.5cm seat.
A superb example of a well constructed, primitive cutlers or milking stool circa 1800-1830, with a marvellous timeworn elm slab top showing workers marks, supported by 3 beechwood legs.
This is most probably a Sheffield Cutlers stool, possibly milking stool of good form and scale. A vernacular furniture piece of both function and form, a versatile stool for a day or bedroom, dressing room, cloakroom or bathroom etc.., an interior design piece of considerable decorative appeal.
