Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Historically, large soup ladles were designed for serving soups, stews, and punches directly from deep tureens or bowls at formal dining tables. During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, silver-plated ladles became essential components of elaborate dinner services.

Silver-plated ladles typically feature a base metal core electroplated with a thin layer of pure silver. The handles are forged with a long curve to facilitate ease of pouring from deep serving vessels.

Authentic pieces usually feature manufacturer hallmarks or silver plate stamps near the neck or rear of the handle. Additionally, wear patterns on high-contact areas, such as the base of the bowl, often reveal subtle signs of age and electroplating techniques.

A silver-plated ladle can be styled alongside antique tureens or decorative ceramics on a sideboard top during dinner parties. Alternatively, it can be displayed in a glass-fronted cabinet or mounted in a frame as part of a cutlery collection.

Clean silver plate gently using a soft cloth and specialised silver polish to remove tarnish without stripping the thin outer silver layer. Avoid abrasive cleaners, dishwashers, and prolonged contact with acidic foods to prevent oxidisation and pitting.
