Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Suzani is a type of embroidered tribal textile traditionally made in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and other Central Asian nations. The word originates from the Persian word for needle, and these pieces were historically handcrafted by brides as part of their dowry.

Traditional Suzanis are typically worked on a cotton or linen foundation fabric using silk or wool threads. Common stitch techniques include tambour work, basma (laid-work couching), and chain stitch to create dense, vibrant surface patterns.

Authentic antique pieces feature hand-spun base fabrics, natural organic or early synthetic dyes with subtle tonal variations, and hand-embroidered motifs that often show minor irregularities. The reverse side typically reveals hand-knotted thread ends and consistent tension variations absent in machine-made reproductions.

Mounting and framing a Suzani panel protects the delicate antique fabric while transforming it into a striking focal point for wall art. It pairs effectively with neutral walls, minimalist modern furniture, or eclectic maximalist schemes to add rich texture and historical depth.

To preserve antique textiles, display them away from direct sunlight to prevent dye fading and fabric degradation. Keep them in stable humidity conditions, and gently clean only with low-suction vacuuming through a protective mesh screen if necessary.
