Pair Antique Pudding / Dessert Tureens by Mappin & Webb C.1910

Description

Very rarely seen, it's quite wonderful to come across a pair of pudding or dessert tureens in silver plate made by the top notch silversmith, Mappin & Webb.

The rim is beautifully decorated with an almost floral scalloped design mimicked on the lid's mount which supports the shield-shaped handle, each of the four legs coordinate well with this design.

The interior's are a joy with a removable liner which retain their original gilding. Underneath is room to pour some hot water to keep the puddings warm or perhaps some crushed ice to keep a summer fruit salad or compote chilled. A very useful pair.

The underside of each is marked by the prestigious Mappin & Webb, "Triple Deposit / Mappin & Webb's Prince's Plate / London & Sheffield."

Excellent condition, with a rim diameter of 9 1/2" x 9" tall to top of handle.
