Lambeth delftware refers to tin-glazed earthenware produced in the Lambeth area of London, predominantly during the 17th and 18th centuries. These ceramics were heavily influenced by imported Chinese porcelain and Dutch Delft pottery, featuring hand-painted designs executed on an opaque glaze.

Delftware was created using locally sourced earthenware clay, fired once before being dipped in a tin-oxide glaze. Artisans hand-painted decoration onto the unfired surface using metallic oxidessuch as cobalt for blue and copper for greenbefore a second firing fixed the glaze.

Authentic 18th-century delftware often features a soft, pinkish or buff ceramic body visible where glaze has chipped, known as fritting along the rim. The glaze typically exhibits fine crazing, minor pinholes, and unpainted stilt marks on the reverse from kiln support tools.
