A true tastemaker, Farmer was a celebrated American art dealer and designer of high-end objects. Of German heritage, he travelled extensively, collecting Asian antiquities and reimagining them into stunning one-of-a-kind pieces in his New York studio—at one point even operating from the prestigious Carlyle Hotel. Known for turning carved stones into elegant desk accessories and objets d’art, Farmer’s creations are often likened to the refined aesthetic of Cartier. Sterling silver was his medium of choice, though on rare occasions he worked in 18k gold.
