A very rare and interesting English antique solid sterling silver string line / skirret. They were used by builders and stone masons, so are a Masonic symbol, as well as surveyors and gardeners for marking out straight lines. It is hallmarked for London 1923 with the makers mark being difficult to decipher. It has been superbly designed and is in super condition being free from dings splits and repairs, a little rough underneath see final photo. It measures over 5.75 inches (14.8cm) long by over 3.25 inches (8.5cm) wide and weighs 78 grams including the string. A very rare piece.
