Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Silver photograph frames produced during the reign of King George VI (19361952) often reflected military themes, regimental crests, and royal monograms. These pieces were frequently commissioned as commemorative items, personal gifts, or presentation pieces during and immediately following World War II.

These frames typically consist of a sterling silver front sheet stamped or chased with decorative elements, mounted onto a sturdy wooden or velvet-covered backing. A glass pane protects the photograph, while an integrated easel stand allows for freestanding tabletop display.

Authentic British silver frames display official assay hallmarks, including the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark (such as London or Birmingham), a makers mark, and a specific date letter. Regimental crests, crowns, or royal cyphers further confirm period authenticity.

Position the frame on a dark wood desk, console table, or bookshelf alongside curated accessories to add metallic shine and historic interest. Pairing polished silver with matte textures like leather, oak, or linen creates an engaging visual contrast.

Wipe the silver gently with a soft microfibre cloth and use a non-abrasive silver polishing cream for deeper cleaning. Avoid submerging the frame in liquid cleaners, as moisture can damage the original wooden backing and interior photograph.
