Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A spire flagon is a tall, lidded metal vessel characterised by a tapered body and a distinctive domed lid shape resembling a spire. These vessels were widely manufactured throughout the 17th and 18th centuries for serving liquids in taverns and ecclesiastic settings.

Georgian flagons were predominantly cast from pewter, an alloy consisting primarily of tin combined with small amounts of copper, lead, or antimony to add strength and durability.

Authentic 18th-century pewter pieces typically feature touchmarks stamped into the surface, evidence of cast construction seams, hand-finished turning lines, and a characteristic dark oxidized patina built up over centuries.

Pewter vessels serve as effective focal points when styled on wooden sideboards, open shelving, or mantelpieces, contrasting well against contemporary minimalist backdrop finishes or exposed brickwork.

Preserve the original patina by dusting with a dry microfiber cloth and washing occasionally with mild soap and lukewarm water. Avoid abrasive metal polishes or chemicals that strip historical surface oxidation.
