Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Ersari carpets are traditional handwoven textiles created by the Ersari tribe, a major Turkmen group originating from Central Asia along the Amu Darya river basin. These carpets typically feature bold geometric octagonal motifs, known as guls, set against a rich red ground.

Antique Turkmen carpets were hand-knotted using hand-spun wool for the pile, often woven onto sturdy foundations made from wool, goat hair, or horsehair. Natural plant and mineral dyes were utilised to produce signature deep red, terracotta, and dark navy shades.

Authentic 19th-century Ersari carpets display asymmetric hand knotting, subtle natural colour variations known as abrash, and distinct tribal gul designs. The integration of coarse goat hair or horsehair in the warp or foundation layers typically indicates period tribal construction.

A red tribal carpet anchors a room by adding rich geometric texture and historic warmth. It pairs effectively with dark wood furniture, leather seating, or neutral minimalist interiors where it serves as a central focal point.

Vacuum the carpet gently using a suction-only attachment to prevent fibre wear. Rotate the piece regularly to ensure even traffic exposure, use a quality underlay beneath, and address spills immediately using a dry cloth or professional textile care.
