Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the mid-19th century, British porcelain manufacturers frequently drew inspiration from 18th-century French Sevres designs, featuring vibrant ground colours such as turquoise or bleu de roi, intricate gilded cartouches, and hand-painted botanical or entomological reserves.

These plates were formed from fine bone china or soft-paste porcelain, fired initially to achieve a vitrified body, and subsequently hand-painted with ceramic enamels before undergoing gilding with leaf or liquid gold fired in a low-temperature kiln.

Authentic Kerr & Binns pieces typically feature impressed or printed factory marks, such as a shield mark with a K&B monogram surmounted by a crown, alongside specific date codes or painter marks applied under or over the glaze.

Antique dessert plates can be mounted using wire wall hangers to create a decorative plate wall, arranged on plate stands upon a console table or sideboard, or incorporated into formal table settings.

Porcelain plates decorated with hand painting and gilded rims should be washed gently by hand in lukewarm water using a mild detergent, avoiding abrasive pads, dishwashers, and prolonged soaking that could degrade the gilding or glaze.
