A beautiful vintage Russian demantoid garnets and diamonds gold bar brooch!
The brooch is fully crafted in 14 ct rose gold and shaped as a pair of interlocked floral elements featuring two gorgeous demantoid garnets with sparkly diamond accents.
Demantoid garnets are rare gemstones. Originally discovered in 1853 in the Ural mountains of Russia, demantoid garnets have a high refractive index and higher adamantine luster (sparkle power) than diamonds and vary in hue from bright grassy green to a more olive shade.
The demantoids in this brooch under magnification also display unique whiplike ‘horsetail’ byssolite inclusions, a distinguishing feature of the Russian demantoid garnet.
The brooch was made in 1957 at Moscow Jewellery Factory, a highly regarded manufacturer, fully marked 583 for 14 ct gold and Moscow assay mark.
Comes in a fitted box lined with beige velvet and silk.
An exquisite and rare brooch, perfect for the lady with distinct taste, or for the avid Russia
