In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the late Edo period in the mid-19th century, Japanese artisans refined vitreous enamel production by applying glass paste onto copper or bronze substrates bound by fine metal wires prior to Meiji-era industrialisation.

Cloisonne chargers are constructed using a shaped copper or bronze base, onto which thin metal wire cells are affixed, filled with coloured enamel pastes, fired at high temperatures, and hand-polished.

Authentic 19th-century Japanese cloisonne often features heavier metal bases, darker background glazes, slight surface pitting from early firing methods, and classic motifs such as the mythical Ho-o bird.

A large charger can be placed on a plate stand atop a sideboard, centred on a fireplace mantelpiece, or mounted directly onto a neutral wall to act as a textured focal point.

Enamelware should be dusted gently using a clean, dry microfibre cloth, avoiding liquid cleaners, harsh chemical polishes, or moisture exposure that could compromise aged wire joints.
