We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian silver often revived 18th-century Neo-Classical motifs, featuring delicate engraving such as swags, bows, ribbons, and floral garlands. This design aesthetic emphasised symmetry, lightness, and classical elegance compared to the heavier ornamentation of the preceding Victorian period.

Pieces from this era were raised or spun from standard sterling silver, composed of 92.5 percent pure silver and 7.5 percent alloy metals for structural strength. Decorative details were applied using precision hand-engraving, chasing, and soldered wire rims or handles.

Authentic British sterling silver bears a series of official assay marks stamped into the metal. Chester pieces are identified by the city mark depicting three wheat sheaves and a sword, alongside the lion passant for sterling purity, a specific date letter, and a makers initials.

Antique silver tableware serves as an elegant accent when displayed on a sideboard top, bookshelf, or within a glass cabinet. Small silver cups can also be repurposed creatively as refined vanity catchalls or decorative accents on a tray.

Maintain sterling silver by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and occasionally polishing with a specialised non-abrasive silver cream to remove tarnish. Avoid dipping fluids or harsh chemical cleaners, and store in low-humidity environments to minimise oxidisation.
