Fabulous Solid Silver Bowl Chester 1913 - W Neale

1900 - 1920
Description

Fantastic solid silver pierced bowl made by the prestigious silversmith firm of William Neale & Sons Ltd. assayed in Chester in 1913. This dish would have been most likely used for bon bons or small cakes but would make a very stylish Pot Pourri holder today. It is in superb condition, looks absolutely fabulous on display and is a very nice collectable piece that should prove a sound investment for the future. The Chester Assay Office closed down in August 1962 and, as a result, items bearing the Chester Hallmark have become increasingly collectable.

The main body of the dish is decorated with an elaborate pierced organic pattern, has a plain base and stands atop 3 paw shaped feet.

The hallmarks are very clear and crisp and although the maker’s mark was lightly stamped at the time of assay I am confident of the maker given the very distinctive shape of the cartouche.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
