Rare American Sterling Silver Ball Pincushion Sewing Needlework Henckel Ny 1910

1900 - 1920
Description

A rare good sized solid sterling novelty ball pin cushion. It is hallmarked with American STERLING silver marks and the makers mark of George A Henckel of New York who operate from 1909 until c1950. I would date this piece to c1910. It has been beautifully pierced with the inside being a wooden ball with original purple velvet cover, note the cover is faded and a little worn but can be replaced as the loop section unscrews allowing you to access the internal fabric. It is in super condition being free from dings splits and repairs just a faint push to the top of the loop holder. The ball measures approx. 2 inches across with the loop extending 0.75 inches. The whole piece including the internal parts weighs 65 grams. A very rare example.

Declaration

The Silver Squirrel has dated this piece to the 1910s.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
