We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Silver pepper mills from the George V era (19101936) typically feature streamlined transitional forms reflecting the influence of the Art Deco movement. They combine traditional British silversmithing techniques with practical, unornamented geometries suitable for daily dining service.

These items consist of a hallmarked sterling silver outer casing or body mounted around an internal steel or brass grinding mechanism. The internal components provide the necessary hardness to crush peppercorns without distorting the softer silver exterior.

Authentic pieces carry British assay marks stamped into the silver body. A 1934 Birmingham hallmark comprises the anchor assay mark, the lion passant indicating sterling purity, the monarchs profile mark where applicable, and the specific date letter mark corresponding to 1934.

Position polished silver table accessories alongside crisp linen napery, natural timber surfaces, or modern matte ceramic tableware. The metallic contrast bridges traditional metalwork with modern dining aesthetics.

Clean the silver exterior gently using a soft cloth and specialized silver polish or foam, ensuring no liquid enters the grinding mechanism. Keep the internal steel mechanism completely dry to prevent oxidisation and corrosion.
