LVS Decorative Arts has dated this piece to the 1750s.

The fall having an oval brass escutcheon plate to the top with a book rest below, the fall opening to reveal a writing surface covered with a deep red felt which is in very good condition.
The interior consisting of six pigeon holes, three convex shaped drawers of fine quality mahogany with oak linings and also a secret drawer.

This leads down to two drawers, the top drawer of convex shape and the lower drawer being slightly longer, both having original brass swan neck handles.
The base also of excellent quality timber consists of a moulding to the top with a frieze below of cross grain mahogany, all supported by four cabriole legs and terminating on pad feet.

This piece is in very good condition for age with evidence of some old repairs (which is to be expected), is of stable construction and can go straight into a home or office etc.
