This beautiful pair of vases, converted to lamps are crafted from Chinese cloisonné enamel and French Chinoiserie style ormolu mounts. The ovoid body of each vase features a variety of beautiful coloured butterflies and floral sprays. The mounts feature exquisite finely carved elephant heads. The main background colour is a vibrant turquoise.
The practice of combining Chinese export cloisonné enamel with French Chinoiserie bronze mounts was a popular during the latter 19th Century.
