Description

A very pretty and fine quality German silver cream jug of the art nouveau / jugendstil period. Ovoid shape with highly ornate cast panelled frieze of flowers and buds. Well balanced with a geometric designed strap handle, this is a lovely example of Continental art nouveau design. Gilt washed inside and marked to the base with the German crescent and crown hallmark and 800 standard mark. Maker's mark "S.&.D.L". c.1900-1910.

It measures 9cm (3 /2") high, 12.7cm (5") spout to handle and 8.2cm (3 1/4") wide. It weighs 161g / 512ozt.

Condition is excellent with no damage or repair. Minor handling wear with two tiny pin pricks, the cast detail is beautifully detailed and very crisp and the gilding is also excellent.
