Art Nouveau was an international design movement dominant between 1890 and 1910, characterised by organic motifs, asymmetrical lines, and inspiration taken directly from plant and insect forms.

Candelabras from this period were commonly manufactured using cast or stamped brass, often gilded or patinated, and combined with blown, moulded, or cased art glass elements.

Authentic items typically display hand-finished detailing, naturalistic asymmetrical curves, period-appropriate patination on the metal surfaces, and construction techniques consistent with early 20th-century manufacture.

Brass should be cleaned using a dry microfibre cloth to preserve the historical patina, avoiding abrasive polishes, whilst glass components can be gently wiped with a damp cloth.

Placing this object on a mantelpiece, sideboard top, or open shelf introduces sculptural organic form and metallic warmth, contrasting effectively against minimalist modern surfaces.
