18th Century Exeter Silver Trefid Spoon

Description

A good example of an 18th Century solid Sterling silver Trefid spoon with a beaded rat-tail handle. It has the traditional three pronged end with original engraved initials and date 'IH.NP. 1719' on the reverse.

It has a good set of hallmarks. They are slightly rubbed but clearly readable as Exeter, 1718 and the maker Edmond Richard. The spoon weighs approximately 28g.

It is in good condition for its age and displays well. There are some faint surface marks, minor dings and signs of age and use but nothing detrimental.

Approximate Measurements :

Length : 7 1/2" / 19cm

Bowl : 2 3/4” / 7cm x 1 1/2" / 4cm
