Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The William IV period spans from 1830 to 1837, bridging the Regency and early Victorian eras. Silverware from this timeframe often features robust classical proportions, bold embossing, and a blend of neoclassical revival motifs with early Victorian ornamentation.

Pieces from this era are typically crafted from sterling silver, formed through techniques such as raising, spinning, or casting, and finished with hand-engraved details, chased borders, and applied decorative mounts.

Authenticity is verified through British hallmarks stamped directly onto the metal, which typically include a makers mark, a standard mark indicating sterling quality, a town mark, and a date letter corresponding to the specific year of assay.

A period silver vessel can be used as a striking tabletop accent, positioned on a sideboard or coffee table to reflect light, or utilized functionally to hold small decorative items or botanicals.

Antique silver should be cleaned infrequently using a specialized, non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth to maintain its patina. It must be stored in a dry environment away from direct sunlight and harsh chemicals to prevent tarnishing and corrosion.
