Sterling Silver Ring / Jewelry Box by Elkington & Co. - 1914

Description

A charming little jewellery or trinket box made from English sterling silver and made by the highly regarded Elkington & Company, famed for their top-notch silver.

The beautifully shaped lid frames the interior decoration with panels of engine turning which in turn surround a central circular cartouche, which of course could be engraved with initials or a date by your silversmith.

The interior if lined in the original pale blue silk and retains it's gilded finish on the inside of the domed lid. The box stands on three very pretty legs with a fleur-de-lys design joining the box.

Hallmarked for Birmingham 1914, together with the silversmith's mark E & Co in script into a trefoil for Elkington & Co.

Excellent condition, measuring 2 1/2" across the lid and standing 1 1/4" tall.
