Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Authenticity is verified by checking for clear British hallmarksincluding the makers mark, standard mark, assay office mark, and date letteras well as examining the weight, construction joints, and natural age-related patination on the silver.

These small decorative objects work well when displayed on a dressing table, mantlepiece, or within a glass-fronted cabinet alongside other miniature silver or brass collectables.

To preserve the metal and fabric, store the item in a dry environment away from direct sunlight, clean the silver sparingly with a soft microfibre cloth designed for precious metals, and avoid chemical dips that can damage the internal cushion material.

These pieces typically feature a cast or pressed sterling silver body, often stamped with hallmarks, combined with an inner stuffing of cork or sawdust covered in velvet, plush, or silk to securely hold pins and needles.

Figural silver pin cushions gained immense popularity in Britain during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, often manufactured as novelty items by silversmiths in Birmingham and Chester to cater to a burgeoning market for domestic collectables.
