French 'Pigeon' Oil Lamp

Description

Circa 1880-1910 A small French oil lamp referred to as a 'Pigeon Lamp' designed by Charles Pigeon 1838-1915, who became known for creating small, portable non explosive lamps.

This has the original glass shade and is in very good condition. It measures 24cm in height and the base is approximately 8cm in diameter.

On the front is the wording:

LAMPE OLYMPE

GARANTIE

VERITABLE

INEXPLOSIBLE A'ESSENCE MINERALE

and underneath a lot more details with the Olympic rings.

The wording is clear and the item has been polished but not lacquered.
