Antique English Mother of Pearl & Sterling Silver Paper Knife / Page Turner - 1895

Description

A quite beautiful English Victorian desk-top accessory, with a glorious blade made from irridescent Mother of Pearl shell.

The handle is highly decorative and most tactile with it's plethora of repousse or embossed work and a pierced or reticulated panel. There is a cartouche to front and back, the front engraved with a very decorative initial "E".

One side of the handle is marked "Sterling" and the other side with the full English silver hallmark for Birmingham 1895. The makers initials L & S are also present for the well renowned silversmith, Levi & Salaman. Excellent condition, measuring 8" in length.
