A charming early 18th century George II solid oak bureau cabinet/bookcase.
c1720.
The bureau section has a fall-front which opens to reveal a fitted interior, with an arrangement of several pigeon hole compartments, over four solid oak small drawers flanking a small central door with the original brass escutcheon opening to reveal a storage space. This is over a chest of four graduating solid oak drawers of dove-tail construction.
The top section has two doors having fielded panelled fronts, with ornate brass escutcheons. With a moulded cornice above. The doors open to reveal a fitted interior, featuring two fixed oak shelves, several pigeon hole compartments, over four solid oak small storage drawers, with original sliding candle stand.
With original working keys to bookcase and bureau.
The bookcase has developed a wonderful rich colour and characterful patina.

In excellent antique
...condition, with expected general signs of age and use, minor knocks and bumps. Very attractive replacement brass Georgian handles, slightly later than the bookcase. All drawers are original internally and open smoothly and easily. All very solid, sturdy and strong.
The top can be removed from the bureau section.
