Antique English Silver Plated Cased 155 Piece 24 Setting Cutlery 20th Century

Description

An elegant Vintage Scotish silverplated twenty four and twelve place setting 155 piece canteen of cutlery, marked James Aitchison of Princes Street, Edinburgh, Goldsmith to the Queen (Victoria), late 19th Century in date.

This impressive set includes a beautiful oak case with blue felt lining, the complete of set of cutlery, excluding table and starter knives. Some pieces of cutlery contain parts made of white material which is not ivory.

The hallmarks are clear, including makers mark JA for James Aitchison of Princes Street, Edinburgh, Goldsmith to the Queen (Victoria), Prince of Wales and Duke of Edinburgh. Aitchison worked between 1877 and 1910, he was a town councillor, and was involved in the building of Usher Hall. His home in Edinburgh is now the Huntley Museum on the Royal mile.
