In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1900s.
There are a further two vacant cartouche incorporated in the border decoration. Inset shaped handles are found at either end of the tray.
It is clearly hallmarked for Sheffield, 1902 and the maker John Henry Potter.
It is a superb quality piece, weighing approximately 4603g.
It is in excellent condition for its age. It has never been engraved and there are no major damages. There are some faint surface marks and very light surface scratches but nothing detrimental or untoward and it displays well.
