We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

  • MotifsCoiled serpent body, Cross-hatched scale engraving, Raised head, Inset gemstone eyes

Serpent motifs have been utilised in jewellery and decorative items for centuries, gaining particular prominence during the Victorian era and mid-20th century as symbols of wisdom, eternity, and protection.

These items were typically cast in solid sterling silver, often featuring hand-chased surface details, engraved scale patterns, and set gemstone eyes such as rubies or pastes.

Authenticity is generally determined by examining hallmarks for assay office stamps, purity marks, makers marks, as well as assessing the natural patina and weight distribution consistent with solid metal casting.

A polished silver desk accessory adds a focal point of metallic texture when placed atop a timber desk, leather blotter, or minimalist shelving unit.

Silver should be cleaned infrequently using a non-abrasive microfibre cloth and specialised silver polish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage patination or settings around gemstone eyes.
