Rare Battle of Jutland WWI Sterling Silver Banded Cigar Case Royal Navy Antique 1912

Description

A beautiful and very interesting antique solid sterling silver banded cigar case. It is hallmarked with import marks for London 1912 with the makers mark being FS. It has been beautifully designed and has been engraved HMS Thunderer 1912-1917 on one side Jutland May 31st 1916 on the other. 'Jutland' refers to the Battle of Jutland the largest sea battle of World War One - it should be possible with the dates to work out who once owned it (almost certainly a high ranking officer). It is in superb condition being free from dings splits tears holes and repairs, possibly never used. The inside is clean. It measures approx. 5.25 inches (13.2cm) long by 4 inches (10cms). A beautifully designed rare piece.
