Cranberry glass, also known as ruby or gold ruby glass, is a type of pinkish-red glass created by adding gold chloride to the molten glass mixture. It gained immense popularity during the Victorian era, particularly from the 1850s through to the end of the 19th century.

These items were typically hand-blown into moulds or free-blown by skilled artisans, often featuring applied clear glass feet, handles, or decorative borders that required precise temperature control during shaping and annealing.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base where they were snapped from the blowpipe, subtle inclusions or air bubbles within the glass matrix, and minor surface wear consistent with age rather than uniform machine-made perfection.

They serve as striking focal points on mantelpieces, dining tables, or sideboards, introducing rich colour saturation and reflective surfaces that complement both minimalist and maximalist schemes.

Antique glass should be washed gently by hand in lukewarm water using a mild, non-abrasive detergent and a soft cloth. Harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and sudden temperature changes must be avoided to prevent thermal shock or damage.
