Country House and Eastern Interiors has dated this Antique Luri Tribal Rug to the 1890s.
It is simply a pleasure to look at and own it and more finer woven than many from this tribal group.
The two ivory coloured medallions have a qashqai type central emblem clearly from elements of their qashqai neighbours but undoubtedly a luri weaving.
The sapphire blue ground and the yellow used throughout is a particularly attractive feature.
It is in excellent condition throughout. Even glossy pile,no repairs,reweaves,original side bindings and ends.washed and de-dusted.
A future investment piece.to find anything remotely comparable you have to go back in time and look at 30 year old catalogues and the like.
Size is 8 foot 1 inches by 4 foot 5 inches. 247cm X 135cm. Fringes not measured in size. All woollen construction. Wefts of terracotta, warp threads natural coloured wool.
