Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This antique Persian Heriz runner rug dates from the period around 1900 and displays a traditional Persian design woven from wool and cotton. The central terracotta red field contains repeating geometric medallions alongside stepped motifs and subtle abrash colour variations, complemented by contrasting blue and cream corner spandrels and multi-tiered borders. Visible details include multi-coloured fringing at the ends, intricate star patterns within the corner sections, and varied diamond and cruciform shapes throughout the central axis. The piece measures 287 cm high by 90 cm wide and 1 cm deep, offering a long and narrow rectangular profile well-suited for narrow spaces. Placed on the floor in a home today, it functions as a hallway runner or corridor rug, bringing traditional warmth and pattern to long walkways, entrance halls, or narrow passages within an English country house interior.

FAQs

Heriz rugs originate from northwest Persia and are recognised for their bold geometric patterns, durable construction, and vibrant vegetable dyes, frequently crafted in long runner formats suited for corridors.

These textiles are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile woven onto a durable cotton warp and weft structure.

Authentic pieces feature rectilinear geometric medallions, slight hand-knotted asymmetry on the underside, natural dye colour variations known as abrash, and a dense wool pile.

Position the runner in long hallways, entryways, or behind a sofa to introduce grounding terracotta tones, geometric pattern, and texture against timber or stone flooring.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating brush bar, rotate periodically to ensure balanced wear, and treat liquid spills immediately with a damp cloth.
