This pair probably dates to the late 19th c. - early 20th c. but is in the style of Georgian cannetille design in combination with the colour scheme of the suffragette movement. The pair features a lovely multi stone design with fine cannetille accents around the base peridot. Cannetille, a technique similar to filigree work was popular in the 1820-30s and features fine gold wires made into motifs of cils, scrolls and fine motifs. This technique, as displayed on this pair, presents a very intricate and exquisite style that elevates the overall artistic flair of the piece. This particular pair also presents a suffragette theme with the usage of green, violet and white gems which was symbolic and a sign of supporting the English suffrage movement in the early 1900s.
