Antique Peridot Ruby And Pearl Earrings 18ct Gold Cannetille Suffragette Design

We are delighted to offer this beautiful pair of antique 9ct gold peridot, ruby and pearl earrings. This pair probably dates to the late 19th c. - early 20th c. but is in the style of Georgian cannetille design in combination with the colour scheme of the suffragette movement.

The pair features a lovely multi stone design with fine cannetille accents around the base peridot. Cannetille, a technique similar to filigree work was popular in the 1820-30s and features fine gold wires made into motifs of cils, scrolls and fine motifs. This technique, as displayed on this pair, presents a very intricate and exquisite style that elevates the overall artistic flair of the piece.

This particular pair also presents a suffragette theme with the usage of green, violet and white gems which was symbolic and a sign of supporting the English suffrage movement in the early 1900s. These three colours signify the following key virtues: Green for Hope, White for Purity and Violet for Royalty, which also also forms an acrostic phrase “Give Women Votes”.

Exquisite in design and a wonderfully historical and symbolic, this pair may be the ideal accountrament to wear with a variety of clothing whether be it in the summer or winter to express an distinguished and elegant look.

A wonderful addition whether be it for a personal collection or as a gift for someone special.
