Edwardian Silver Box with Tortoiseshell Lid by Levi & Salaman Birmingham 1906

A beautiful solid silver and tortoiseshell trinket box. Circular in shape, the box has a flat base, the sides taper in slightly and there is ridged detailing to the edge of the lid. The tortoiseshell lid is inlaid with exquisite silver pique decoration of displaying ribbons and bows with twining flowers stems. The interior of the box has a gilt lining and the lid pulls on and off with an easy fit.

 

Hallmarks are visible on the box for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1906 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver, along with the makers mark for the renowned silversmiths: Levi & Salaman.

An exceptionally pretty trinket box in lovely antique collector's condition.
