Rare gold bezoar or goa stone case and stone, probably European 19th century.
 
The pierced and raised openwork case in solid 14 carat gold,
 
The two halves tight fitting, co joined with suspension ring fittings.
 
Each half made of three identical joined segments of formal scroll, leaf and floral design.
 
Case diameter 18.5mm, weight 6 grams
 
Stone diameter 11.5mm, weight 1 gram
 
The gold is unmarked, fully tested as 14 carat
 
A revival of similar bezoar charms/cases made in the 17th century
 
Bezoar stones were seen as valuable commodities, with magical healing properties
