Silver Cigarette Box Hallmarked London 1958 Robert Pringle & Sons

An elegant 1950's silver cigarette box by Robert Pringle and sons.

This rectangular cigarette box is decorated with fine engine-turned engraving to the lid with a smooth band around the rim, and the sides are in smoothly polished silver. A smooth rectangular cartouche panel in the centre of the lid could be used to personalise the box with initials or a monogram. The interior of the box is lined in a light wood and the base is neatly finished in leatherette. The lid hinges and closes nicely.

 

A superb solid silver box, of good weight and quality in a classic design that never goes out of fashion. The box could also be used for jewellery or trinkets.

Hallmarked to one side of the box and also on the side of the lid by the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1958, the Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and makers marks for Robert Pringle and Sons.

 

Condition: In very good vintage condition with just a couple of tiny dints, only noticeable in certain light and mentioned only for absolute accuracy.
