Georgian Silver Travelling Inkwell

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Digby Antiques (Wiltshire)

This is probably the smallest travelling inkwell we have come across. It is plain in design but a wonderful size. The marks were stamped and then reeded decoration has been added afterwards making the marks difficult to read. Late 18th century 1778? The top also marked with a lion passant. The inkwell screws down well. It is water tight with new cork fitted to the inside of the lid.
