Description

South west persia.

Third quarter 19th century.

A superior qashqai weaving in every respect from it's colours to it's tribal symbolism within the many motifs.

Note the very unusual ivory ground border with a series of geometric house-like structures.

The two humanoid figures in the upper half are unusually drawn both clearly male figures !

All ends and sides secured. Washed & de-dusted.

No holes,repairs or reweaves and even pile throughout.

8 foot 6 inches X 5 foot 1 inches. 258cm X 156cm. At widest points. All woollen construction.

From a private collection of tribal rugs.
