A Superb Nathaniel Mills Silver Gilt Vinaigrette

A superb early Victorian silver vinaigrette, by the great Nathaniel Mills. This splendid example has a gilded interior and a lovely pierced and engraved grille, featuring flowers and leaves. The lid and base have engine turned engraving and there is a shaped cartouche to the top, containing the original owner's initials. The sides are scalloped and have stylised engraving and the lid has a cast thumb grip for opening. Inside the vinaigrette lid is a poignant engraved message "With Aunt Fannie's dying love." A wonderful collector's piece by a much sought after Maker. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent with no dents, splits or holes. There are a couple of pinpricks and minor blemishes to the lid, commensurate with age and use.
