Farnham Antique Carpets has dated this Antique Heriz Bag Face to the 1900s.

Woven by the nomadic weavers in Heriz of North-West Persia, these tribal bags would have originally been used as storage bags, and would have had a kilim backing which usually gets worn away from this wool piled front of the bag. We can still see some of the kilim at the top of the bag, which has slits where they would have looped wool ties through to close the bag, so these were practical every day items. Rare to find these tribal bag faces from Heriz, as they generally produced rugs, carpets and runners. Over 120 years old the dyes on these bags are still vibrant, being all natural dyes. As the bag face has been carefully sewn onto the frame it can be removed at any point too.
